Job Description

The company are a leading manufacturer of products and solutions for the security/defence industry.

The business are seeking to recruit a Buyer for their operations.

The main responsibility for the role is to manage the procurement of parts, materials, components and engineered parts to ensure smooth supply to the manufacturing / production function allowing for continued optimal production of finished parts to customer schedules.


Responsibilities

As a buyer, the duties are as follows;

Establish new relationships with suppliers and build on existing supplier relationships.
Ensure suppliers meet delivery and quality targets whilst driving cost savings and identify improvements.
Negotiate favourable terms with new and existing suppliers on pricing, lead times etc.
Process of all purchase orders and to expedite deliveries.
Ensure all contracts and supplier agreements are adhered to in the procurement chain.
Driving continuous improvement in process and workflows.
Ensure the timely supply of materials to schedules.
Identify team training needs and to carry out first line HR duties.


Key skills for this role are as follows;

Previous experience within a procurement / buyer position within a manufacturing environment.
Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
Familiarity with procurement software and tools.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Knowledge of supply chain management principles.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
Excellent communication skills and able to do so effectively at all levels.
Good organisation, able to multi task and meet deadlines.


The shift is a Days position (8am - 4.35pm Monday to Thursday & 8am - 3.10pm Friday)

Salary is up to £38k per annum.

Benefits include; half year bonus (discretionary), life cover and healthcare plan.

The role is based in the Coventry area, so is commutable from Nuneaton, Bedworth, Kenilworth, Solihull, Birmingham, Solihull, Rugby, Hinckley.
